A data center is in the works within the Gillem Logistics Center in Forest Park and a tax abatement is being considered.
During the Clayton County Board of Commissioners work session on Tuesday, Nov. 11, the IT company Digital Reality presented its case for a tax break for the Fort Gillem Data Center.
Digital Reality claims to be the largest data center provider in the world, with most located in North America — including two in downtown Atlanta. Customers include Netflix, Google, Apple and Microsoft.
Market Manager Scott Glynn went over the environmental concerns of the cite, a decommissioned army base, including the landfill that Digital Reality plans to spend more than $100 million remediating so that the land is developable.
