For 44 years, The New Mexican ’s Empty Stocking Fund has been providing financial support for Northern New Mexico families struggling with expenses around the holidays — and this year, its fundraising campaign is starting with a bang.
Beginning Sunday, the Anderson Charitable Foundation — which has invested more than $40 million in New Mexico nonprofits throughout its four-decade history — will match donations to the Empty Stocking Fund up to $15,000. The fund, a partnership with the Santa Fe Community Foundation and other organizations, raised $411,691 last year, and its goal this year is to bring in — and give out — $475,000.
