Charlotte lost out to New York City in the MLS Playoff first-round best-of-three contest. New York City emerged victorious from the final, deciding game as 3-1 winners last weekend. It means Malanda’s time at Charlotte is now over, and he moves closer to his move to Boro .
Signed in the summer in a deal believed to be worth just under £6.5 million, the 24-year-old French centre-back was loaned back to Charlotte to allow him to complete the remainder of the MLS campaign. Boro’s agreement to the loan-back clause allowed them to steal a march on rivals to sign the highly-coveted defender.
