Nine families in Folsom received keys to their first homes as Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento opened its first affordable homeownership community in the city. Each family completed 500 hours of sweat equity and will purchase their homes through a 30-year, zero-percent interest equivalent mortgage. City leaders welcomed the families, while homeowners described the milestone as a new beginning and a major relief. Habitat leaders said the project strengthens communities and creates long-term stability for future generations. With regional demand for affordable homeownership rising, more Habitat communities are already in development.
