The contours of Bihar's new NDA government are beginning to take shape , with the BJP and JD(U) completing the first round of discussions on cabinet-sharing and agreeing in principle to a formula that could allocate one ministerial berth for every six MLAs, according to sources.

The formula is expected to guide the distribution of portfolios among alliance partners as the coalition moves swiftly towards forming the next government.

JD(U) national executive president Sanjay Kumar Jha, who held consultations with BJP central leaders in Delhi, is returning to Patna today and will meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to carry forward preparations for legislature party meetings of both the JD(U) and the NDA.
