Heavy showers have been forecast on Sunday for Tamil Nadu this week as a new low-pressure area develops in the southern part of the Bay of Bengal, off the western coast of Sri Lanka.

As a result, the next 24 hours are expected to be extremely crucial for the state, as the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has issued an orange alert for moderate to heavy rainfall in areas like Villupuram, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, and Tiruvarur, as well as in Puducherry and Karaikal.
