Former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has said that the Gujarat Titans traded Sherfane Rutherford to the Mumbai Indians because they trusted Washington Sundar to do the job, adding that with their squad almost in place, they can go into the mini-auction while munching on pakodas.
GT parted ways with multiple backup players, including Mahipal Lomror, Karim Janat, Dasun Shanaka and Kulwant Khejroliya. Among the key overseas departures were Gerald Coetzee and Sherfane Rutherford, with the latter traded to MI for Rs 2.6 crore.
