Melbourne residents have rallied for the state government to move a medically supervised injecting room away from a primary school after the council sensationally backflipped on its support of the location.
People frustrated with their neighbourhood being littered with needles and concerned about safety gathered at Victoria Street in North Richmond today.
"Relocate this room away from the primary school and high-density residential area," resident Christine Maynard told 9News.
"We are sick to death of watching these drug users rule our world."
Richmond residents directly challenged Premier Jacinta Allan, asking why she had not opened a medically supervised injecting room in her electorate of Bendigo, which has seen 11 fatal overdoses last year.
