WASHINGTON —

The controversy over convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is expected to come to a head in Washington this week.

The House is slated to vote on a measure that would require the Justice Department to release files related to the sex trafficking investigation into Epstein, as well as the probe of his death in federal prison in 2019. The DOJ would be able to redact information about Epstein's victims, but would be prohibited from concealing facts due to “embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity."

Last week, four Republicans sided with Democrats on a petition to force a vote on the "Epstein Files Transparency Act," bypassing resistance from GOP leadership. If that support holds, the bill would pass in the House, but its fate in the Senate remains unclear.
