Coventry City fans have reached a number of conclusions following this week’s news that Leeds United free agent Patrick Bamford has signed for Championship rivals Sheffield United.

The 32-year-old had been training with the Sky Blues at Ryton for the last few weeks to get fit while he continued to look for a new club following his release from Elland Road in the summer.

City boss Frank Lampard, who played with Bamford briefly at Chelsea, was at pains to explain the arrangement was merely doing the striker a favour, and that nothing should be read into it regarding any longer term option to offer him a deal.
