Coalition leaders have signed off on a new energy policy, presenting a united front despite divisions behind the scenes.

The Coalition met for the first time today since the Liberal party followed the Nationals in scrapping a goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

After two weeks of talking, Opposition Leader Sussan Ley and Nationals leader David Littleproud announced what would come next.

"We will prioritise affordable energy for households and businesses and this is just so important," Ley said.

The opposition said it was committed to tackling high energy prices and restoring reliability.

A future Coalition government would scrap the net zero carbon target along with green energy incentives.

The ban on nuclear power would be lifted and government subsidies would go to pot
