CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Hundreds of people turned out to the Mint Museum Randolph for the 2025 Charlotte Kidney Walk on Saturday.
WBTV anchor Caroline Hicks emceed the event to raise awareness of kidney disease.
Kidney disease patients, caregivers, families and supporters participated in the walk.
According to the National Kidney Foundation, chronic kidney disease is the under-recognized public health crisis.
About 9 in 10 adults with kidney disease do not know they have it and it causes more deaths each year than breast cancer or prostate cancer.
“This is something that we really want to let people know to work on prevention and early detection because once you have kidney disease it’s really about mitigating it,” Nicole Conti, Development Coordinator with the National Kidney Foun
