Rohini Acharya, daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, has spoken out about a family feud that erupted following the Mahagathbandhan's significant defeat in the Bihar assembly elections. She emphasized that her parents, Lalu and Rabri Devi, along with her sisters, have been supportive of her during this difficult time. Rohini stated, "Whatever I had to say, I have said on my social media. I have not lied about anything that happened. Rohini jo bolti hai, sach bolti hai (Whatever Rohini says is the truth)."
Rohini's comments come after she announced her decision to cut ties with her brother, Tejashwi Yadav, and accused him and his close aide, Sanjay Yadav, of being behind her estrangement from the family. She expressed her feelings of humiliation and abuse, claiming she faced threats and was made to feel worthless. In her emotional posts on social media, she described being subjected to verbal abuse and physical threats, stating, "Yesterday, a daughter, a sister, a married woman, a mother was humiliated... I didn’t compromise on my self-respect, didn’t give up on truth."
Rohini revealed that she is now heading to Mumbai to stay with her mother-in-law, who has been worried about her since the incident. She questioned why daughters are often expected to make sacrifices in families, especially when brothers are not held to the same standard.
The RJD faced a disappointing performance in the recent Bihar elections, winning only 25 out of over 140 contested seats. As of now, there has been no official response from the RJD or the Yadav family regarding Rohini's allegations. Her statements have raised concerns about the dynamics within the prominent political family, highlighting the personal struggles amid political challenges.
