STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A solemn gathering was held Saturday at the 121st Precinct station house in Graniteville, where more than 30 families of fallen members of the New York Police Department assembled to honor their loved ones who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the public.
They were joined at the 10th Annual Staten Island Remembers by friends, neighbors, community leaders, elected officials, and police officers from across Staten Island who came to pay tribute and honor 111 members of the NYPD - dating back to 1922 - who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
The room in front of the station house desk was filled with seated guests, while an overflow crowd stood three rows deep behind them.
