A local author has taken a unique approach to telling the stories and sharing the legacies of Indigenous women.
Stolen Sisters, written by Leahdawn Helena, is described as a “first-of-its-kind” one-woman play that shifts the “lens of history to reflect Indigenous perspective and experience.”
Helena says she wanted to take the true stories of women and girls in the province and tell them from an Indigenous perspective.
” …because all too often these stories are told from white western settler points of view, and I really wanted to put words back into the mouths of the Indigenous women who lived these lives.”
