Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy was able to travel home with teammates on Sunday.
McAvoy, who was left bleeding after being struck in the face by a slap shot from Montreal Canadiens defenseman Noah Dobson on Saturday, was cleared after undergoing a series of tests , according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.
Bruins head coach Marco Sturm was relatively optimistic regarding those tests following his club’s 3-2 victory at Bell Centre.
“It was definitely emotional when you see your teammate go down like that,” Bruins teammate Nikita Zadorov said. “The game is on, adrenaline is pumping. No time to think about that.”
The Bruins improved to 12-8-0, winning for the eighth time in nine games, and now sit atop the Atlantic Division.
