The FIA’s Formula One Commission has approved new livery regulations aimed at improving on-track car visibility and preventing teams from stripping paint to save weight by exposing bare carbon fibre.
Several teams have increasingly left sections unpainted in recent seasons, and with major engine and aero changes arriving next year, the FIA has moved to tighten the rules.
In another key decision, drivers will now be allowed to change their racing numbers during their careers, ending the previous requirement to retain their originally assigned number — often one they never preferred or couldn’t access at the time.
