Gretna police are investigating a shooting that left a 48-year-old man dead on Sunday morning.

Authorities have not released the name of the victim.

The shooting was reported about 6:30 a.m. at the Creekside Apartments in the 1400 block of Virgil Street , Gretna Police Deputy Chief Jason DiMarco said.

Officers and paramedics responded to the scene and found the man lying face up in the parking lot. He'd been shot multiple times, DiMarco said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one has been arrested in the case, and no information was immediately available about a suspected motive in the killing.
