Injuries have defined Week 11 in the NFL.
Aaron Rodgers was among the latest to fall victim to one as the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback suffered a left wrist injury against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to the Steelers.
He was seen grabbing the wrist late in the first half after taking a hit. Head coach Mike Tomlin told the CBS broadcast after halftime that Rodgers was being evaluated for the injury.
Here's the latest on Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers injury update
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Rodgers is feared to have suffered "a slight break in his left wrist" during Week 11's game against the Bengals. The Steelers' quarterback will undergo further testing on Nov. 17, Schefter wrote on social media.
NFL Media's Tom Pelissero reported that initial X-rays showed a small fracture in Rodgers' wrist, though "initial belief is it’s nothing long term." Ian Rapoport, also of NFL Media, wrote that Rodgers "has indicated to people close to him that he’ll be back soon."
Mason Rudolph replaced Rodgers on the Steelers' first drive in the third quarter and finished out the Steelers' win over Cincinnati on Nov. 16.
When asked about Rodgers' ability to return to the contest, Tomlin said, "We're hopeful but we better get Mason Rudolph ready to go."
If Rodgers does indeed need to miss time, Rudolph would be in line to start against the 7-3 Chicago Bears on the road in Week 12.
Steelers QB depth chart
- Aaron Rodgers
- Mason Rudolph
- Will Howard (emergency third QB)
If Rodgers is unable to return from his wrist injury in Week 12, Rudolph would get the start in Chicago. Howard, the rookie who had exclusively served as Pittsburgh's emergency third quarterback for 11 straight weeks, would likely move up into the backup role.
