A civilian died and three firefighters were injured in a fire on Roosevelt Island Saturday evening, a spokesperson for the FDNY said.

Crews responded to the blaze at 560 Main St., between West Road and River Road, around 6:04 p.m. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Three firefighters suffered moderate injuries and were taken to local hospitals, according to the FDNY.

City Councilmember Julie Menin, who represents the district, said on social media that “our district is again mourning the loss of one of our neighbors.”

She said her thoughts are with the victim’s family and the hospitalized firefighters, and thanked emergency responders for their efforts.

The fire was brought under control at 7:39 p.m. Fire marshals are investigating the cause, officials said.
