SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The North Dakota State women's basketball team hung around against Big Ten opponent Nebraska on Sunday but the Bison were unable to overcome a cold-shooting performance from beyond the arc in an 80-72 defeat at the Sanford Pentagon.
NDSU went just 3 of 16 from 3-point range for 18.8% and finished the game 28 of 60 from the field for 46.7%.
Avery Koenen paced the Bison with 26 points and nine rebounds. The 6-foot-3 junior forward went 11 of 15 from the field and 3 of 5 at the free throw line.
NDSU trailed 22-20 after one quarter of play before the Cornhuskers built their lead to 42-34 at halftime. The Bison cut their deficit to six after three quarters of play, trailing 61-55 before Nebraska outscored NDSU 21-15 in the final frame to pull away.
