Santa Maria Police were called to a disturbance in the parking lot of 1505 S. Broadway Sunday morning at 11:25 a.m. and upon arriving, learned that federal agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement were attempting to arrest an individual who had an arrest warrant, according to Santa Maria Police.

During the course of the arrest, ICE agents were involved in a minor car crash with the suspect in the parking lot of Goodwill, according to police. ICE agents eventually forced entry into the vehicle and the individual was arrested.

After the arrest, a crowd of bystanders gathered. In an effort to keep the peace, SMPD officers remained on scene. At the conclusion of the incident ICE agents departed with the arrestee in custody, according to police.
