The South Lake community is grieving an unimaginable loss after two local teenagers were killed in a tragic crash in Lake County on Saturday evening.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just after 6 p.m. near State Road 33 and Groveland Farms Road. Troopers reported that a 2008 Toyota, occupied by a 16-year-old female and a 17-year-old male, was traveling northbound on SR 33 when the driver attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. As a Lincoln Aviator approached from the opposite direction, the driver swerved in an effort to return to the proper lane. The Toyota lost control, striking the front of the Lincoln and overturning.
