Dumped opener Sam Konstas has been given the chance to impress during the Ashes with a call-up to the Prime Minister’s XI side to face England.
The 20-year-old’s Test career is on hold after being dropped from the Australian squad , having struggled on the West Indies tour and in the Sheffield Shield so far this season.
But he will now return to the international arena that set the stage for his Test debut when he lines up for the PM’s XI in a two-day day-night match at Canberra’s Manuka Oval later this month.
Konstas scored 107 off 97 in the corresponding fixture last year against an Indian team featuring several Test stars .
Just weeks later he was the story of the Boxing Day Test after boldly ramping Jasprit Bumrah .
