A staffer for Illinois Senate President Don Harmon was held at knifepoint during a robbery at the lawmaker's Oak Park office, village officials said.
The suspect, Scott Loeffler, 35, was charged with felony armed robbery by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. At approximately 11:11 a.m. on Friday, Loeffler knocked on the door of Harmon's Constituent Service Office at 6941 North Ave., village officials said. Loeffler was permitted inside, as staffers believed he was a constituent.
At one point, Loffler asked about a bill, officials said. Then, after a staffer looked away and turned back, the suspect was holding a knife in one hand and the assistant's cell phone in his other, according to police.
