ORCHARD PARK - On the second offensive play of Sunday afternoon’s hijinks at Highmark Stadium, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen made a decision that harkened back to rookie year 2018 sugar high Josh.
Confronted with immediate pressure from a Tampa Bay Buccaneers blitz and thinking he might get sacked for a safety, Allen tried an ill-fated two-handed basketball chest pass over the middle in the direction of Khalil Shakir. Instead, it went right to Bucs cornerback Jacob Parrish for an interception that, by season’s end, will be looked back on as one of the worst in the NFL.
“Boneheaded decision down there,” Allen admitted. “I got fooled in the protection, slid it the wrong way and didn’t give ourselves a chance down there.”
