Mulitple motorways have been shut in Manchester after a serious collision, with police warning that motorists will likely face disruption until Monday morning's rush hour.

There are big queues of traffic after the crash at Simister Island on Sunday night, November 16 with the M66 southbound between Junction 3 and the M60/M62 interchange being closed along with all access to the Simister Island.

Knock-on effects expected to impact motorists dropping their children off at school and heading to work on Monday, November 17.

Sections of multiple motorways are now closed, along with all access to the Simister Island as police remain on the scene to assist vehicles caught within the affected areas and implementing closures requested by police to support their response.
