LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Health officials are issuing a warning to parents after a nationwide baby formula recall was linked to nearly two dozen cases of infant botulism, including one in Kentucky.
Infant botulism is a rare but potentially life-threatening illness.
The Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 23 infants across 13 states have suspected or confirmed cases of infant botulism after consuming ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula.

Each of the 23 infants was hospitalized, including the Kentucky case, but no deaths have been reported.
Early symptoms of infant botulism include constipation, poor feeding, loss of head control, difficulty swallowing, and decreased facial expressions.
