President Donald Trump's niece issued a startling warning on Sunday about the president as he tries to navigate the renewed pressure to release the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Next week, House lawmakers are expected to vote on a discharge petition to force the administration to release the files. The vote follows several days of leaks from House Democrats, who publicized emails and other documents that painted an unsavory picture of Trump's relationship with Epstein before Trump entered politics.
While the bill faces long odds in the Senate, experts have described it as symbolic of Trump's loosening grip on the Republican Party.
Mary Trump discussed how Trump will likely respond to the situation he's in on a new episode of "The Daily Beast Podcast" with Joana Coles.
"He does not believe that anything or anybody could exist beyond him, which is what makes me nervous, because whether he thinks he's going to be going down because of the Epstein issue, or because if he starts to think that his health is failing, he will not go alone," Mary Trump said.
"He will take as many people down with him," she continued. "That was the case in 2020, and we have seen what happened since then. So that worries me. Nihilists are very dangerous people. If they feel like they're losing control. And as a father, he's a nihilist. He doesn't want his kids to take on his legacy. He doesn't believe in such a thing, and he certainly wouldn't believe they're capable of it because he's also a narcissist."
