Hundreds of tonnes of waste has been dumped in a field in the UK, near Kidlington in Oxfordshire.
Footage from Sky News shows a mountain of rubbish, measuring at least 60 meters (65.6 yards) long, 15 meters (16.4 yards) wide, and 10 meters (10.9 yards) high.
Local authorities say they believe the cost to remove the waste could be more than their entire budget, and that the dump's proximity to a river may cause an ecological disaster.
Calum Miller, the Liberal Democrat MP for Bicester and Woodstock, told Sky News he was concerned there were not enough local resources to deal with the problem.
"Unless we get on with it we could see an environmental catastrophe here during the winter. Which is why I am calling on the government to take action," Miller said.
Friends of the Thames, a charity which promotes cleaning up waterways, said the illegal rubbish dump was created by an organised crime group.
Its CEO, Laura Reineke, told Sky News the dump was of "epic proportions".
"It's a massive ecological disaster," she added.
The site of the waste pile is adjacent to the A34, a busy road running through cities including Oxford and Birmingham.
