TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — An Indiana state senator is speaking out after reportedly being "swatted" at his Terre Haute home Sunday evening.

According to a release from the Vigo County Sheriff's Office , around 5 p.m. Nov. 16, the Terre Haute Police Department received an email saying that harm had been done to people inside a home located in southeastern Vigo County.

Deputies immediately arrived at the home, which later turned out to be that of State Sen. Greg Goode (R-District 38).

Police say initial attempts to reach anyone at the home were unsuccessful, but eventually, deputies made contact with the people inside the home. Police said everyone inside was safe, secure and unharmed.

An investigation into the incident showed it was a false email prank called "swatting."
