CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will continue normal, in-person instruction despite ongoing federal immigration enforcement in the area, district officials told families Sunday, while emphasizing that no such activity has occurred on school property.

The announcement came as U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents conducted sweeps across Charlotte over the weekend, making more than 80 arrests on Saturday in what officials dubbed "Operation Charlotte's Web." The operation has drawn sharp criticism from state and local leaders over agents' tactics.
