A controversial German auction of Nazi-era propaganda, a worn yellow star, concentration camp documents and other objects from the Holocaust has been cancelled.
Just a day before they were scheduled to go under the hammer on Monday in the western German city of Neuss, the disputed lots disappeared from the auction house's online preview, after the sale had come under criticism.
The head of the auction house confirmed that the auction was cancelled to Nathanael Liminski, a senior official in the regional government of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Both the International Auschwitz Committee and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul condemned the planned sale.
