The member for Dubbo, Dugald Saunders has announced he is stepping down as the Leader of the NSW National Party, and a number of likely names have been thrown about to replace him.
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson , is among them.
In a statement, Mr Saunders said it had been an "honour" to lead the Parliamentary team during a "challenging time in Opposition".
"I've always done my best to represent regional NSW," he said.
Mr Saunders became the leader of the Nationals party in 2023 after Paul Toole, the Member for Bathurst, spent more than two years in the position.
Mr Toole's leadership was called into question in 2023 over accusations he lied about Ben Franklin's plans to nominate for president of the upper house.
