After three games to open the season in which it could do no wrong on offense, Indiana’s hot start on that end of the floor came to a crashing halt against Incarnate Word on Sunday.
No. 7 in the country in 3-point shooting percentage entering the game, the Hoosiers went 5 for 24 from beyond the arc and had to sweat out a 69-61 victory after seeing a 19-point second-half lead sliced to as few as five with less than two minutes left.
“Thirty-some game season, we have good shooters, we’re built to make 3s, so on a night where we don’t shoot it particularly well you got find way a way to win,” Hoosiers coach Darian DeVries said. “I’m glad we were able to do that.
“The reality is you’re going to have off shooting nights. It’s just going to happen. Tonight was one of them.”
