LOUISVILLE, Ky. — More Kentuckians are taking the initiative to help struggling families as we approach the holiday season.

The Superstar Market hosted their first Thanksgiving meal giveaway on Market Street in downtown.

Turkeys, canned goods and essential non-perishable items were loaded into cars and those who received donations left with relief to be able to provide a holiday meal.

“[It feels good] just to know somebody in the community cares and wants to help,” Ollie Hinkle, a volunteer, said. “[I] just want to be able to come back and do this because I’ve been in a position where I’ve needed it before and want other people in the community to feel like they have help when they need it.”

The Superstar Market hopes to make the giveaway an annual event.
