When 11-year-old Willow Holmes began asking questions about puberty, her grandmother Cindy Holmes suggested they go to the bookstore in search of answers.

But what they found there did not quite fit.

"The books were too silly or too boring," Willow said.

"There was no space for her, nothing that spoke to a real girl her age who wanted to ask questions, write and learn," Ms Holmes said.

So together the Nowra pair decided to create something new: The Mysteries of Puberty, a guided journal and educational resource designed by a tween, for tweens.

Unlike other puberty guides, The Mysteries of Puberty blends information with journal prompts, creative activities and colouring pages, all written specifically for tween girls.
