PHILADELPHIA -- The Detroit Lions repeatedly stubbed their toe on third and fourth down Sunday night, wasting a valiant effort from the defense and resulting in 16-9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Detroit (6-4) falls to third place in the NFC North after an ugly showing where it still had a puncher’s chance in the fourth quarter. But an five failed attempts on fourth down, and one of the worst night’s of Jared Goff’s career were too much to overcome.
Goff completed 14 of 37 passes for 255 yards with one touchdown and one interception. At 37.8 percent, it’s the lowest completion percentage in any game of his career. Goff entered the game leading the NFL in that category (74 percent).
