Dunham Massey is a special place. As a National Trust member, I probably pay it a visit once a month alongside Quarry Bank Mill and Lyme Park.
They're great destinations to be in nature, and to find some peace and solace within reaching distance of what can often be loud, chaotic city life in and around Manchester.
But as of this weekend Dunham Massey is changing things up, with its adored Christmas lights trail returning for the festive season.
We arrived for the 4.30pm slot, which is by this time of the year pretty much completely dark. It is the earliest slot on offer, and for those with kids it's a good time to get a leisurely lap of the trail and some food (about 90 minutes) without having to risk being TOO late for the bed time routine. 7 View 7 Images 7
