Traffic on the nearby J25 of the M1 southbound

A crash on the M1 near East Midlands Airport has resulted in traffic chaos, with motorists impacted by delays of 45 minutes and seven miles of congestion.

Traffic was held on the M1 southbound between J24 and J23 near the Castle Donington airport this morning (Monday, November 17) after a four-vehicle collision close to the A42 junction.

While all lanes are now open, there are delays of around 45 minutes and miles of built-up traffic on the busy route.

National Highways, sharing an update at 7.13am, said: "Traffic was held on the M1 southbound between J24 and J23 near East Midlands Airport A42 junction, due to a collision involving four vehicles.
