It’s easy to imagine how lonely and unwanted a shelter dog named Maddie must have felt after so many months without a family.

When she first arrived at the Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Maddie believed that her dream family would be just around the corner.

The shelter staff shared that hope. Maddie, an American Staffordshire Terrier mix, was everything an adopter could want. She was gentle, affectionate, and playful, with impeccable manners.

Despite her sweet nature, Maddie was passed over time after time. Through no fault of her own, she waited 400 long days for someone to recognize her worth and give her the home she deserved.
