The Supreme Court on Monday issued a slew of directions to the State of Uttarakhand to undertake immediate measures to restore and repair the ecological damage caused in the Corbett Tiger Reserve due to illegal tree felling and unauthorised construction activities.

The Court issued the directions as a sequel to its March 2024 judgmen t which flagged various violations in the region. The judgment, delivered by a bench comprising Chief Justice of India B R Gavai, Justice K Vinod Chandran, and NV Anjaria issued wide-ranging directions on forest restoration, demolition of illegal structures, regulation of tourism, tiger safaris and measures to prevent human–wildlife conflict.
