Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been sentenced to death for her role in deadly protests where hundreds of people died.

Hasina was sentenced after she was found guilty of crimes against humanity on Monday. She was tried in her absence and is currently living in exile in India. The former PM was convicted of crimes including incitement, orders to kill, and inaction to prevent atrocities.

Former inspector general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, who was in court, and ex-interior minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, who has gone into hiding, were also found guilty of allowing the use of lethal force against protesters and failing to prevent atrocities against them.
