In the last few weeks, more than 60 health care leaders from across Vermont gathered at Rutland Regional Medical Center to address critical staffing shortages in the state's health care sector.

The Healthcare Leaders Workforce Summit focused on designing employer-led education pathways to help more Vermonters enter health care careers without leaving the state, according to an announcement about the event.

Hospitals, long-term care facilities and community and home health providers in Vermont face staffing shortages in fields such as registered nursing, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, laboratory technology and surgical technology, according to the announcement.
