Bangladesh, Nov 17: Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been sentenced to death by Bangladesh court over the charges of crimes against humanity after concluding a months-long trial that found her guilty of ordering a deadly crackdown on a student-led uprising last year in which almost 1400 people lost their lives, mostly by gunfire from security forces. Bangladesh has firmed arrangements across sensitive areas ahead of the International Crimes Tribunal’s (ICT) announcement of the verdict on deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal. The former prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, was not present to hear the sentence, as she has been living in exile in India since being forced from power.
