The Little Rock Air Force base has announced that starting this week, it will be conducting two combat readiness exercises over the next month.
Phase 1 of exercises by the 19th Airlift Wing will be held Monday to Thursday. Phase 2 is scheduled for Dec. 1 to 5.
"Throughout the exercise, LRAFB patrons may see an increase in personnel activity, hear announcements and sirens from the installation's Giant Voice System, and experience possible loud noises," according to a post on the base's Facebook page. "All announcements will be identified as exercise communications."
According to the post, the base will experience a lockdown for a simulated active shooter exercise that will last roughly an hour.
The Arnold Gate (Back Gate) will operate from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the duration of the exerci
