Before Candace Tell became a leading voice for women across Akron, she faced challenges of her own – struggles that would inspire a mission of sisterhood, mentorship and empowerment.
“For a long time, I was tired of me,” she said, reflecting on her life before 2014. “Tired of the cycles I was living in, tired of repeating the same pain. I knew something had to change and that change started with me.”
Born and raised in Akron, Tell remembers growing up surrounded by potential but not always by support. The city’s close-knit energy inspired her, but she often felt a gap when it came to spaces for women to heal and grow together.
“I didn’t always feel supported,” Tell said. “That’s why I wanted to be a support for others. I wanted to create what I didn’t have.”
