India’s unemployment rate held steady at 5.2 percent in October, even as urban joblessness edged up to a three-month high.
According to the latest Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme. Implementation, urban unemployment rose to 7 percent from 6.8 percent in September, reflecting softer labour-market conditions in cities.
Rural unemployment, meanwhile, eased to 4.4 percent, compared with 4.6 percent a month earlier, helping keep the overall rate unchanged.
