New Delhi: A major political controversy has sparked controversy in Maharashtra after the BJP temporarily stopped the induction of Kashinath Choudhary, a leader from Palghar who has been linked by opponents to the 2020 Palghar mob lynching case. The case, in which two sadhus and their driver were brutally killed, remains one of the most sensitive incidents in the state till this day.
Choudhary was welcomed into the BJP at an event in Palghar, but the move was criticised as it spread to the media, just after that state BJP president Ravindra Chavan stepped in and paused the induction.
The party said in a statement that Choudhary’s name does not appear in any FIR or chargesheet, but said that the matter is extremely serious, so the decision about his membership will be reviewed carefully
