Abu Dhabi: The UAE is strategically positioning itself as a global hub for fertility care and specialised medical tourism, leveraging government support, advanced technology, and luxury service integration, said James Roderick Barr, Chief Executive Officer – IVF, SEHA, during a fireside chat on “Beyond Borders: Health Cities, Medical Tourism & Alliances in the Arab Region.”
Speaking at the Healthcare Leaders Summit – Middle East edition, Barr, who brings extensive international experience in fertility care, highlighted declining fertility rates as a national concern. “Total fertility rates in the UAE have dropped from 6.72 in 1960 to 1.5–1.7 today, the lowest in the Arab world. Because fertility is such a critical issue, it is strongly supported by the UAE government,” he said.
